SEI

SEI is an international non-profit research organization that has worked with environment and development issues from local to global policy levels for a quarter of a century. SEI bridges science and policy to find scientifically robust, sustainable responses to the challenges of sustainability. SEI’s work tackles overarching issues like climate change, energy systems, vulnerability and governance, land-use sustainability, sustainability finance, trade as well as specific problems such as water resources, sanitation and air pollution. SEI is the project coordinator of BONUS RETURN.

SWEDESD is a centre at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Uppsala University. An interdisciplinary team supports capacity building, policy development and integrated and collaborative research related to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The Game Design education was the first in Sweden and one of the first educations in Northern Europe dedicated to research and education in game design and game technologies. A vital mission for the institution is to explore and develop game methodologies and technologies for application in serious games and other academic domains.

Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) is a leading international research institute working closely with consumers to create value and develop high-quality input in all parts of the innovation chain. The section Urban Water Management (UWM) at RISE is guided by a conceptual framework based on a systems perspective and a comprehensive view of sustainability. Their sustainability analysis tool has been developed in close cooperation with universities, institutes, governmental agencies, municipalities as well as the private sector.

Warsaw University of Life Science

The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS) provides teaching and research activities in several disciplines related to environmental studies. This includes a wide spectrum of environmental processes investigation and modeling along with environmental engineering and development. Significant fields of research activities are integrated water resources management in catchments, application of GIS and remote sensing techniques for determination of watershed parameters for hydrology and water resources management.

Two sections at the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) contribute to BONUS RETURN. The Environment and Nature section focuses on environmental policy instruments, project and policy appraisals, and analysis of instruments for economic analysis of the protection and improvement of the water environment.The Production, Trade and Policy section is concerned with research of farm and resource management as well as trade, food chain management, technology assessment, production economics, and new agro-industrial technologies.

The Finnish Environmental Institute

The Finnish Environmental Institute (SYKE) carries out environmental research, monitoring and assessment in five themes:

  • Support for climate policy,
  • Consumption and production, and sustainable use of natural resources,
  • Built environment and land use,
  • Baltic Sea, inland waters and aquatic resources, and
  • Ecosystem services and biological diversity.

There is a strong emphasis on providing support to the decision-making process, including scientific and technical advice and through the development of methods to combat harmful environmental changes.
